PA Manufacturing Week A Success

Governor Wolf proclaimed September 28-October 2, 2015 the inaugural Pennsylvania Manufacturing Week. The Department of Community & Economic Development(DCED) developed Pennsylvania Manufacturing Week to complement the national initiative, National Manufacturing Day (October 2) — both are intended to promote the industry and change people’s perceptions of manufacturing today by drawing attention to the amazing career opportunities available in a variety of sectors and educating the public on the significant impact manufacturing has on the economy.

In efforts to promote the event-week, DCED:

  • Developed a microsite,
  • Created press materials, a toolkit for legislators, op-eds, and a press release to statewide media 
  • Promoted the event heavily on social media

In total, the media relations outreach around Pennsylvania Manufacturing Week yielded more that 1.5 million media impressions, while comprehensive social media efforts yielded an estimated 474,500 impressions. Here are a few of the highlights:
