Seminar - Using Video in Your Public Relations Strategy

The Public Relations Seminar Series Session for August will feature Nathan Wagoner, Director of Media Communications and Gabriel Welsch Vice President for Advancement and Marketing, both from Juniata College.  Their presentation for the seminar series will focus on utilization of video of your public relations campaign.  This session will focus on video strategies both from a marketing perspective and a production/how to perspective.  By attending this session, the participants will have a greater understanding in when to use videos, when to hire vs. DIY, what to expect when hiring an outside company to film, and much more.    
In his role at Juniata College, Gabe oversees operations in marketing, digital and emerging media, public relations, fundraising, alumni relations, corporate and foundation relations, and career services.  The work of Gabe’s teams at Juniata has been featured in articles in The Chronicle of Philanthropy, Advancing Philanthropy, and University Business’s “50 Best Branding Ideas of 2008.” At Juniata, Gabe serves on the President’s Cabinet, the Bias Response Team, as co-chair of the 2013 Middle States Self-Study Steering Committee, and as chair of the Presidential Transition and Inauguration teams. Gabe is active in his professional community, presenting at conferences on topics related to fundraising and marketing, including at the 2012 National American Marketing Association Symposium. He is the author of four books of poems, as well as scores of short stories, book reviews, and essays appearing in national literary periodicals.
Nathan Wagoner is Director of New Media Communications at Juniata College, a position he has held since 2008, and in which he oversees production of digital video, animations and other new media for numerous constituencies on campus, including Marketing, Development, the Alumni Office, Enrollment and others. Nathan started at Juniata as the Technology Trainer in 2000. After also taking on the creation and management of the Extreme Media Camp in 2001, his job quickly became primarily focused on new media support and creation. Before working at Juniata he had worked for 6 years in new media design including web sites and multi user virtual space. His original training is in photography, painting and illustration. He has had 13 one man shows and his work is held in collections around the world including the permanent collection of the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art. His work has been featured in numerous publications including The Chronicle of Higher Ed, The Chronicle of Philanthropy and Research Penn State. His team at Juniata has won several Telly and Davey awards for video production.
The Public Relations Seminar Series was developed to provide a thorough understanding and application of public relations techniques as it spans an impressive range of topics from Public Relations 101 to development of your own media plan.  The series will run monthly (on the 3rd Thursday) through October. 
This session of the Public Relations series will be held on August 15th from 9 am to 11 am at the Visitor’s Center at Seven Points of Raystown Lake.  The cost to attend the session is $15 for members and $25 for non-members (members of the Visitor’s Bureau, HCBI or the Chamber of Commerce).
